HOME DAY 1 DAY 2 DAY 3 DAY 4 DAY 5 DAY 6 DAY 7 DAY 8
It saddens me to write todays entry because I did not spend any time on the bike today. The pain in my butt had over come my drive and rain in the area had completely dissolved my will. Both factors did not edge the fact that all I really wanted to do is hop on my bike and ride the 63 miles I had left. Every moment of the day I battled myself with why I should and should not get out and ride.

My main defense as to why not ride was the entire purpose of the event in general. The Festive 500 was intended to get you off the couch, out on the road riding your bike, so you could combat the potential onslaught of calories and endless laziness. If you look at it from that since then I have succeeded in every since of the way.

This past week has been the most miles I have put in a week since the end of the season. it has essentially jump started my work for next season giving me an incredible base to work from. The Festive 500 has given me the opportunity to do what you are supposed to do in the off season, base miles. For that I am thankful for the effort I have put in and miles I now have under my belt.

If I had ridden yesterday all the work I have done may have been for not. I potentially could have extended the amount of time off the bike to heal my chapped rear by days. Leaving me off the bike for longer than what I needed to be. So instead I chose to rest my bum and do some other fitness. I did a workout on my new TRX Suspension trainer, which turns out made me more sore than the 250+ miles I put in prior. I also did a few chores and spent the afternoon making ravioli.

I am happy I participated in the Festive 500 even though I did not finish the distance. I put in a good effort, left with good results, and made my way through the holidays without being a lazy lump. I say that my journey was a success albeit incomplete.
